The objective of the company is provision of high-quality agriculture policy advisory and business managerial solutions to both the public and private sector. The focus is on the solutions for the development of small and medium size business enterprises in the agricultural value chains in Tanzania cognizant of the ongoing developments in economic integration of the East Africa sub region and the Africa region at large.

Mariwa Hardware Store Ltd (MHS Ltd) is one of the reputable and very fast-growing private medium sized Enterprise in Tanzania dealing with supply of construction/building materials. The Company has a total of 32 staff located in its five branches of Moshi, Mwanza, Arusha, Dodoma and Dar salaam. Due to its recent years rapid growth, the management of Mariwa Hardware Store commissioned GSS Consulting Co Ltd in 2024 to conduct (OA) organizational analysis so as to improve the company’s overall effectiveness and ability to adapt to growth in business as well as changes that are taking place in Tanzania business environment’. The objectives were in three folds. First, to conduct an analysis and identify organizational weaknesses. Second is to recommend measure in structure system, culture, management and decision-making processes, measures that will lead into higher productivity and profitability while adapting to growing business volume and changing business environment. Thirdly to monitor evaluate progress being made and support management in the process of adopting the recommended measures.
CHELS Microfinance Services Company Limited is a company limited by shares with BRELA Certificate number 118535 and a Central Bank Certificate no.MSP 2078. CHELS main business is provision of loans to small and medium enterprises. The management of CHELS understands that from its nine years of experience in micro lending the company has opportunities to grow the business, however management learnt from various audit reports that there are gaps and weaknesses in the way the company is governing and running the business. It is for this reason that CHELS management contracted GSS Consulting Co Ltd to undertake an organization diagnosis of performance challenges facing the company so as to strengthen the governance and Management set up. |
The assignment included a thorough due diligence of the entire CHELS MFS Ltd to study and understand its background, shareholding and governance structure, organization structure, business strategy, businesses processes, human Resources processes including compliance issues, accounting processes etc.
It also included presenting the findings of the diagnosis and its recommendations to shareholders and management, where the shareholders and management tasked the consultant with implementation of the recommendations as follows; Adoption of a new organization structure with clear reporting lines, facilitated the recruitment of the CEO, facilitated the recruitment of 5 new Board of Trustees, developed Board Policy developed Board Calendar, developed a Board succession plan, developed CHELS Human Resources Policy, updated Board members information and registering them with the regulator i.e Bank of Tanzania. GSS is undertaking a monitoring and evaluation exercise of the changes recommended. The results are shared with Board and management on quarterly basis and this work is expected to be completed in March 2026.
